I just took some new pictures of my shop. The Grand Opening is today. I’m so out of the way that I don’t expect that many people. Mostly I want people who love to felt to know about my shop. Been Really Busy

Okay, I have the perfect excuse for not posting anything in such a long time: I quit my job at the Art Institute, bought a house with room for a store and studio, and moved into my new house. I’ve been preparing the studio for a classroom to teach in, and preparing the store. For the classroom I ripped up the old rug and put down those peel and stick tiles; I built two 8′x4′ tables for my students (and me) to use;

I painted one of the closet doors with chalkboard paint, and the other door I covered with cork for a bulletin board.

In the store I painted furniture and walls, put up shelves,

and put in a new outside door.

I watched a sheep being stripped of her wool coat. I think she enjoyed getting the heavy wool off her back.

New Hampshire Sheep & Wool Festival 2011

We went to the festival on Saturday. I was in fiber heaven! I purchased some Merino batt and I’m anxious to try it. There was so much to see, and so many vendors to visit. I learned a few things about wool, and felting, and I think I found a good source for good Merino batt.

Twitch 1995 – 2011

I lost Twitchy today. He was the best. He lived a long and happy life. He fetched toys, he was sweet, and he read Stephen King. I loved him. Good bye Twitchy.

Orbs Within Orbs

Orbs within orbs of felted wool fiber. I made these orbs by wetting and working wool fibers until they turned into felt. I shaped the orbs individually, inserting one into the other to create this sculpture.

There are five orbs. The center orb has a purple tint, one other orb has a blue tint, the three others are white.

It measures 4 1/2″ wide and 4″ in height.

Baby its cold outside!

Look at the winter wonderland at my house. This was a few days ago.

This is my back yard, somewhere under all that snow.

This is looking outside on one side of the house.

Look at how much snow there is piled up on the propane tanks.
